Its the start of Multicultural Week here at Mission San Jose High, and the administration parking lot has been cleared in preparation for the countless food stands that will occupy this space during lunch.
Business is fast for the Chinese Chess Club, as they hand out their wares to a customer. Their famous bento box usually sells out in 10 minutes.The Cycling Club advertises their Snapple to potential buyers. The noontime sun is hot, and many students buy the Snapples to fight against the heat.
20 minutes into lunchtime, and the line for tickets is still very long. In 2015, Leadership 2 made the decision to get rid of all monetary transactions during the buying of multicultural week goods to crack down on embezzlement of profits by clubs.
The venue of the Multicultural Week food stands is as busy as ever. Students walk around buying food as DJ Harrison Chu takes their song requests and blasts them out loud, creating a festive atmosphere.
40 minutes into the lunch period, and most clubs have already sold out. The volunteers running the booths then go out to buy their own lunches, and take a break for the rest of the period.
